White House Seeks FDA’s Counsel Regarding Marijuana

The White House is currently seeking the FDA’s counsel regarding marijuana and CBD usage.

Very few details are known about the project, titled “Cannabis and Cannabis-Derived Compounds: Quality Considerations for Clinical Research.” However, an FDA spokesperson indicated that it is examining guidelines and regulations for CBD usage. Once outlined, CBD could be sold as dietary supplements and foods with the FDA’s approval.

“We recognize that there is substantial public interest in marketing and accessing CBD for a variety of products. We are working toward a goal of providing additional guidance, and have made substantial progress,” FDA said in a statement. “There are many questions to explore regarding the science, safety, effectiveness and quality of products containing CBD, and we need to do our due diligence.”
