CBD Oil Claims to Protect Users from COVID-19 Are False

New York Attorney General Letitia James is on a mission: to stop false companies from falsely advertising coronavirus preventions and cures.

As millions of Americans seek to protect themselves from the novel coronavirus, some natural remedy companies have taken the opportunity for financial gain and advertised certain products prevent or cure COVID-19.

One Utah company, Finest Herbalist, advertised that their Pure Herbal Total Defense Immunity Blend offered protection from the virus. James sent a strong cease-and-desist letter to the company demanding that they remove such advertising.

“By misrepresenting the effectiveness of products against COVID-19, companies like Finest Herbalist are giving consumers a false sense of security, putting their very lives at risk,” James said. “Deceptive marketing is never acceptable, especially during a time of crisis; this is a matter of public health and safety.”

Other companies have tried to capitalize on Americans’ fears, as well. One company claimed their air purifiers could filter out COVID-19 droplets with their filters. Alex Jones allegedly sold coronavirus-fighting toothpaste. James also dispatched cease-and-desist letters to these sellers.
